Before someone tells me that this song is really not that exceptional and adding to the misery, is that it is heavily borrowed from George Michael’s Faith, let me remind you that this movie itself is admitted to be a medley of various influential films like Character and Forrest Gump. More than that, and as always, the protagonist shares a lot of things in common with the director Gautham Menon (Mechanical graduate lead in Surya S/o Krishnan, Ye Maaya Chesaave and Yeto Vellipoyindhi Manasu) and Menon himself has acknowledged that Surya S/o Krishan is pretty much an autobiography with 70% of the film being just excerpts from his life (It’s alright…Convective Heat and Mass Transfer can indeed be difficult. Taking it the third time is totally cool 😀 )
Another way in which the movie relates to me and hence adds to the already off-the-roof feels is that a good deal of it was shot in San Francisco (the song Yedhane Koyyake was shot predominantly on UC Berkeley campus, Marina and thankfully on the correct side of the Bay too 😀 – the Gandhi Statue is in SoMa). The lyricist being Veturi – ’nuff said (If you are new to this blog, you can look at [1], [2], [3], [4] for more of his stuff)
This video comes with the build up too! Love the retro ambience replicated on the sets. It still doesn’t have a Gold Spot bottle though.

The first line is a filler and a product of translation (from the little Tamil I know – it means ‘I was longing for the Goddess that you are in the moonlit sky – I initially thought it translates to ‘Vanilla Sky’ – would have been more awesome with the simultaneous Claude Monet, Paul McCartney and Tom Cruise reference though)
